Christmas Candles for Refugees

Christmas Candles For Refugees Is a new body of ceramic work by Gary Wood. A sea of glazed stoneware tea-light containers, forming a dedication to the plight of Refugees and their children.

This work will be installed at Bath Abbey on Sunday 29th November 2015 as part of the Abbey’s annual Advent Candlelit Procession and Service, which starts at 6.30 pm. This year’s theme is Hope. This event is free, but visitors need to secure a ticket from the Bath Abbey website to gain admission. This annual event is one of the most popular in the Bath Abbey Calendar.

In addition to the installation at the Abbey, One Two Five Gallery in Abbey Green in Bath will be showing Christmas Candles For Refugees as part of their Christmas Exhibition and Sale, which runs from 20th November until Christmas Eve (see below). You can purchase individual candleholders in addition to Gary’s other ceramic work including, cups, shots, bowls wall pieces and sculpture during the exhibition. A percentage of the sales of the candleholders will be donated to a charity specialising in aid and medical care for refugees.
